A Spring Bike Ride in Provence

Beautiful scenes Edward and I saw along the way...

1. A Cypress tree, which is Provence's symbolic tree and ruins from Roman times.

2. Plenty of private pools shaded with the gorgeous arbre de judée , a tree so pink in May.

3. Sheep down from the Alps are moving from day to day grazing.

4. Plenty of fragrant wisteria on facades and terraces.

5. Famous road, not always peaceful but ok for short distance before going back to paths.

6. Lots of green areas...pre-crop time!

7. More sheep and the centenarian shepherd is part of local color in my village.

8. Colza fields galore.

9. Orchard area of France...you can see pear and apple trees here.

10. Paths with bamboos and reeds.

11. Cavaillon to St. Remy road...of Van Gogh fame.

12. Brooks everywhere.

13. Canal des Alpilles which is a crucial water source.

14. Horse country with lots of schools for practice.

15. Here's the other side of the canal.

16. More canal views, good for walking but no bikes are permitted.

17. Oratoire at a mas entrance.

18. Olive trees and buttercup fields.

19. Land of vineyards.

20. Land of many olive trees.

21. More wisteria on the road.

22. Typical entrance to huge mas properties.

23. Gated mas more and more in vogue for protection.

24. View of the Alpilles.

25. Genets jaunes or cytisus scoparius.

26. Lavender struggling after all the rain.

27. Border of roads flowered.

28. Fancy lavender plantation in mas front garden.

29. Olive trees already pruned.

30. White wild flowers in the garrigue.
