When is registration required?
The only area on FrenchWomenDontGetFat.com that requires a user be registered and logged-in is the Community section. You may browse the message boards without registering, but if you wish to reply to comments posted there or wish to start your own forum topic you must first register and then log-in.
Where do I register?
In the upper right-hand corner of every page you will see "Register." Click on the word and you will be taken to the registration page. (Note: if you are already registered and logged-on you will see "Welcome, YOURUSERNAME" instead of "Register.")
Will I be charged anything if I register?
No, every area of the website is free.
How and when will you use any information that I provide during the registration process?
How do I sign up to receive Mireille's periodic e-newsletter?
In the upper right hand corner of every page you will see "Newsletter." Click on the word and you will be taken to the sign-up page. There is also a sign-up link in the right-hand column, towards the bottom of the page. After you click the box to sign up for the newsletter and hit "save" you will receive an email to your registered email address; you will be asked to click a link in that email to confirm your subscription to our list. If you don't click the link you will not be subscribed.
Do I have to be registered in order to receive the Newsletter?
No, you can sign up to receive the Newsletter without registering. All you need to provide is an email address.
How do I cancel my newsletter subscription?
There are two ways to cancel your newsletter subscription:
1. If you are registered on the website, be sure you are logged-in and then click My Account, which can be found in the upper right hand corner of every page. Click the tab that says "Edit," and un-check the box called "Newsletter" under "Newsletter Subscriptions." Then click save. You will receive a confirming email from FrenchWomenDontGetFat.com. You do not need to reply to this email in order to confirm your removal from our subscription list.
2. The second way to cancel your newsletter subscription is to click the "unsubscribe" link that appears in every email you receive from FrenchWomenDontGetFat.com. If you saved the original confirmation email that you received when you first subscribed to the newsletter you will find an "unsubscribe" link there as well.
If you are not registered with the website you must click the "unsubscribe" link that appears in every email you receive from FrenchWomenDontGetFat.com. If you saved the original confirmation email that you received when you first subscribed to the newsletter you will find an "unsubscribe" link there as well.
How do I create my own topic for discussion on the message boards?
First, be sure you are registered and logged-in. Then choose which forum you wish your thread to appear in. Forums are the broad topics that appear on the Community home page; they include Food & Wine Discussion; Style Talk; Well-Being; Recipes; French Finds; Daily Pleasures; Voila, I Did It!; and Support Groups. You can start a forum topic on the home page just above "Bienvenue, Mes Amis!" (don't forget to choose a forum in the drop-down box and hit "save"); or you can post a topic within a specific forum.
How do I reply to a specific comment by another user?
In the upper right corner of every comment box the word REPLY appears in orange. If you wish to reply to a specific comment by another user, hit REPLY in the comment box that you wish to reply to. If you prefer to reply to the general topic, hit the REPLY button at the very top, in the first comment box.
How can I sign up to be alerted when someone contributes to a topic that interests me?
Click the "subscribe" link and check the option you prefer. You can follow a particular topic, forum, or user. If you want to edit your subscriptions go to My Account (there is a link in the upper right hand corner of every page) and click the "Subscriptions" tab.
How do I report an abusive or offensive comment that has been posted to the message boards?
Please email email@example.com.
What's the difference between SEARCH, RECIPE SEARCH and SEARCH THE FORUMS?
Use the SEARCH box in the upper right hand corner to search the entire website for specific content: an article, an ingredient, a recipe, a topic, etc. Use a keyword or a phrase.
The RECIPE SEARCH (found on the main home page and in the left hand side of the Recipe home page) searches the database for recipes only. You can narrow this search to deliver recipes in a specific season (Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall) or by Vegetarian.
The message boards have their own search box as well, which appears on the Community home page. Here you can search all the forums and topics by keyword.
How do I contact the webmaster if I have a question or a problem?
