FRENCH PHRASES

Faire les cent pas
Walk a hundred steps -- as in, walk around a bit while you're waiting for a friend. Walking is one of my favorite pastimes.

Faire son marché
To do one's own shopping -- a great way to see what fruits and vegetables are at their peak in the season, and to run into friends.

Fais-toi plaisir
Take your pleasures -- have your diversions. Above all, make sure you enjoy yourself.

Faites simple
Keep it simple. This is my mantra in all things.

Force majeure
Literally this means "superior force," and you see it in every legal contract. I use the phrase to describe the natural effects of aging on our bodies.

“Au revoir ”
