Jenny la Guerla...

Les Jardins des Tuileries
I had some time to kill between my preening and tweaking at Guerlain and at Dessange today, and spent a great hour walking in the Tuleries, between Le Louvre and Place de la Concorde. (Saving le Louvre itself for tomorrow. It's be my 14th visit - I started at the age of eleven - and I guess I'll NEVER get to see everything in my lifetime.) So for today, at least, it's my favourite walk. But hey, I don't take my train back to the provinces till Sunday evening, so watch this space, cos I'll probably choose somewhere quite different tomorrow!! Right, the waiter has just come to tell us our table is ready, so I guess I have to shut down the Galaxy for tonight! Bye, for now, Jenny, xxcoco1960

On the beach
I don't get there often enough but this time of year it's SO NICE!! You can actually walk on the sand by the water and get a better workout than if you have your sneakers on! Only problem is it's a 45 minute drive. Locally I like to go walk with the ducks as I call it. There is a hospital real close to my house that has a walking track and a lake with lots of ducks. It's such a peaceful place and being near a hospital it makes you realize how lucky you are to have the health to walk! Oh and yes - I live in South FL so it's beautiful this time of year. This is why we suffer through the awful summers!Lillybo

Oh, the beach in winter!!
For the first time in my life, I don't live 15 minutes from the beach (never warm like Florida, always the foggy central California coast). There is nothing like a cold winters day at the beach, when everything is damp and all the colors are shades of gray -- the water, the sky, the fog, the clouds. How I miss that pungent salty smell. But we've had a glorious snowfall and tomorrow I will don my snowshoes, and trek along what is normally the biking/hiking trail. The trees, the frost, the pristine snow - all so lovely.

Ooh I love the California coast!
Elizabeth - where did you move to? There's a lot to be said for snowfall too though. I lived in Chicago for two years - two of the longest years of my life because it's so cold there but I used to love it when it snowed and of course when I was already home and snuggled in next to my fireplace :) But yes - I used to love the crisp fall air and watching the colors change. I would walk around my neighborhood just to see the progress the trees were making. I've never donned snowshoes though! Never got out much in the snow when I was up there because in Chicago it can get bitter cold in a heartbeat!bren67

South Coast or The Mall
I like to have a daily walk around St James park in London or along The Mall (the tree lined road between Buckingham Palace and Admiralty Arch. During the weekend my husband and I like to walk along the south coast.Vintage1944

Most favorite place?
Manhattan! I can walk 80 or so blocks a day when I am there. For all other times, I prefer my little country block up and down the hills. It's about a 2 mile walk.cwlorente

Park
I love my neighborhood. There's a park across the street that I walk through at least twice a day to and from the train to work. Sometimes at night, DH and I walk around the park a couple of times before bed. It's the size of a city block, has a small playground at one corner, tennis courts, benches and lawn and flower gardens, and a memorial statue with plaques of the names of everyone in town who served in WW1. (Ernest Hemingway's name is on the plaque. He grew up about a block from here.) Because I live downtown, I walk just about everywhere. -- CarolVintage1944

My husband and I are members of national trust and we always love being able to stroll on the beautiful grounds each property has. The most recent one we've been was croft castle near hereford. I always enjoy a nice day out there and enjoy seeing all the beautiful flowers.Ava

The National Trust
is great value! We use our membership all year round and recently visited 7 properties in one week when we went to Cornwall & Devon - and back here near home at Wimpole. We too, love to stroll around the gardens and visit the houses or properties. The National Trust have really improved their cafe / restaurant food of late and it is really worth trying. A tad pricey - but usually made up of delicious local produce and it's really expertly cooked & presented. Enjoy!Marilyn

Princeton
We are a short jaunt to Princeton University. One can park and walk for hours in and around the campus. There is wonderful art, an historic trail follwing George Washington's trails and many battles won there. I am especially fond of the art museum as it hosts many Monet, Warhols and more recently a Degas or two. I also love the whimsy of Albert Einstein's home and reading about the impact he has had on the country and world at large. He was even friends with Paul Robeson! There are many other hidden treasures all around the campus.annamey

My favourite place to walk is Lake Louise...
...but since I no longer live anywhere near, I enjoy a local park that is all second-growth forest. It was re-forested in the 1920s, so many of the trees are nearing the century mark. I am definitely grateful to the provincial forestry department who decided way back when that they would let their experimental forest operate as a control group. There is just over one square mile of woods, with miles of pathways, and many, many ways to get lost in the middle of the city.ChristineE

My very favorite place to
My very favorite place to walk is Paris. Not being able to do that often, my second favorite place to walk is on the beach. That I can do quite regularly, as it's a 5 minute drive. However, I walk the dog in my own neighborhood twice a day and make the most of it.Vintage1944

Well on that note......Yorkshire
My brother was stationed in Yorkshire back during the mid 90s. I went to visit him one summer and loved all of the walking paths they had. We went on several walks while I was there...too numerous to remember them all but I loved visiting Fountains Abbey and walking the grounds there as well as Howstein Gorge (sp?). Once I was there, I really did not want to leave. Hopfully I can go back there again. Just the other day my sister-in-law and I both saw the house they used to live in Dacre Banks for sale......if I only have about 350000 pounds then I could go back to the very same house. I guess I'll be staying in Alabama for a while.blondetaz

My very favorite place is
My very favorite place is Venice, Italy. I love getting lost winding my way around the canals. Next best place for me is the boardwalk in Santa Monica and Venice Beach. I guess I have sort of a Venice theme going. Since I am in Minneapolis, and it is freezing here, I walk the skyways downtown. Also, the Mall of America is a good place to see green trees and walk about 5 miles! Take good care everyone, SherieVintage1944

Unique
For me the best place to walk is Pike Place Market in Seattle. It's a huge open air market where on any given day you can find street musicians playing all kinds of music. Inside you will find an odd assortment of vendors from an old magic shoppe to a vintage poster store. I could literally spend hours walking around there.
