What is your favorite breakfast that keeps you full until lunch?

I like to have oatmeal (1/2 cup dry) with 1 tbsp of nut butter and sliced banana, but I feel really hungry just 2 hours later... I like to eat this though because it's easy cheap and has little sodium (I get plenty later in the day, trust me. I like Japanese food). Any suggestions to make this more sustaining? I've tried having yogurt on the side and find that makes little difference. I'm not trying to lose weight, just maintaining.

My breakfast

I usually have an egg with Skinny Cow cheese in various flavors, iced coffee, sometimes a slice of toast (right now I'm doing more low carb). Sometimes I will eat oatmeal and use cream rather than water which fills me up.

Muesli and other nice things

I have to start work at 7am everyday and work until 2:30 pm. So I have to get up quite early in order to get ready and arrive at my work about 6 miles away from where I live. I am a breakfast person through and through and cant begin my day without it or I'm simply no good. My first break of the day is at 8:15 am so I wanted a breakfast that would at least sustain me until that break. I have a bowl of muesli w/skimmed milk and a glass of water. I find the oats really help to keep my stomach satisfied until then and the water of course adds to it. Plus I feel more alert and awake after having a glass of water (some mornings its a pint glass full). When first break arrives I have a small pot of yogurt. My second break then is 2 hours later at 10:15 am when if I'm hungry I'll have half of my sandwhich I brought for lunch or some fruit i've prepared. Lunch is then at 12 noon. I have found having a bottle of water that I'm constantly consuming on my breaks tends to help keep me going and keep me fuller as well. I hope some of these ideas may help. :)

nothing

Nothing keeps me full to lunch... Morning to 2 is my time that I eat alot...my body just wants it. After 2 I'm not much of an eater. I like my green drinks, I also like almond butter...and flax crackers, bananna pancakes with coconut cream...sometimes a raw cereal...but I snack alot in the morning. Jas

Lime Pickle!

I absolutely adore lime pickle! I never thought of it for breakfast, but why not? I love rice and lentils... I will try this. I usually mix lime pickle with basmati rice for a quick lunch or dinner. I could definitely eat it in the morning as well. :)

Breakfast

Today, I had an ounce of Brie cheese with a half an apple, and 6 rosemary pepper Triscuits. It filled me up until lunch. Amazing! Usually, I'm in my lunch bag at 11:00 am, but today, I could wait til 12:30pm which is a normal lunch time.

Well....

I have to admit that I cannot abide by the french breakfast. I am a mid west born lady and I simply cannot do without eggs of some kind and bacon/sausage/ham. Of course I curb the portion ratio that my mom used to serve. So I'll have one egg, one piece of meat, and one english muffin or wheat toast.

Baguette, Butter and Coffee with Creme on the side!

I find that this combination keeps me full well until lunch and sometimes longer. :)

French breakfast

This sounds like a typical French breakfast. I read on a blog that most French girls eat this way. Giada DeLaurentiis said as a child she usually at Nutella on toast for breakfast though now eats oats or parfaits.

Full fat

I have also found that full fat yogurt keeps me full until lunch. I used to eat non-fat yogurt laced with artificial sweeteners all the time. It never made me satisfied, and I'd end up eating again within 30 minutes. But full-fat Fage yogurt is so satisfying- I only eat 1/3 cup when I make the MBC. Love love love it. No longer will I eat non-fat- YUCK!.

I'm a creature of habit

My work day starts very early - my alarm goes off at 5 am, I leave the house at 6 am. I pack my breakfast the night before and Monday through Friday, it's the same thing: a cup of Greek yogurt with a big splash of frozen blueberries (they thaw by the next morning and saturate the yogurt with their sugary juice); one hard-boiled egg which I eat with a little bit of spicy salsa; 3 prunes and 6 or 8 almonds. It sounds dull and spartan, but it's just the right combination of sweetness that I crave and protein that keeps me full.

As I get older...

As I get older, I find that some protein at breakfast keeps me satisfied longer, as long as there is some fat and some sort of carbohydrate included too. Many mornings I have some thin sliced deli ham, a thin slice of cheese, and a smear of butter on a slice of whatever bread I have on hand...along with about a half cup of whole milk made into hot chocolate with 1/2 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon cocoa powder. It keeps me satisfied until lunch. And the hot chocolate satisfies my sweet tooth with just enough sugar, but not too much for a healthy breakfast.

none

No breakfast keeps me satisfied till lunch. I just accept that I usually snack around 10 (ideally a form of protein and greens) or I'm hungry.

Filling additions to breakfast

Flaxseed! I just started using flaxseed in my yogurt or oatmeal or whatever I'm having for breakfast and it seems to keep me satiated through lunch. You can buy it ground and just add a tablespoon to your breakfast. It has a slightly grainy texture and nutty flavor. It also has omega-3s and protein to keep you satisfied. Eggs keep me full through lunch, too. I prepare them scrambled, hard boiled, or I poach one in the office microwave. Try adding some to your breakfast to keep you full.

Just discovered something!

My usual fat-free Fage yogurt with banana and Kashi 7 grain cereal does not last til lunchtime, but today I substituted the fully fatted Fage. Not only was it totally delicious, it did keep me full until lunch. (Must be something to this "no fat-free sugar-free anything" FWDGF philosophy. :)

me too

I have found the Chobani yogurts, and then I add either Kashi or Grape Nut cereal to it and I can keep going. The crunch factor is mental for me. The yogurt has some fat in it as well. I also have trouble with low blood sugar, and need protein to keep me feeling "level". Another trick is that I bring it to work and eat it at 9:00 which helps me a lot. L

This keeps me full til lunchtime

Hi, I am eating a wide variety of things for breakfast but one that really keeps me full is a slice of 'Burgen' bread which contains various seeds spread with a little peanut butter, followed by a portion of yoghurt with half a banana chopped into it. This way, I'm having carbohydrate, protein, fruit and dairy all in one quick and easy meal. It feels like a good, square breakfast but I'm still losing the weight. Oh, and it tastes really nice too! If you don't want the yoghurt, I'm rather partial to a banana and peanut butter sandwich.

YUMMY YUM YUM................

This sounds dee-lish! I love a slice of bread in the morning. And I love peanut butter, bananas and greek yogurt! So I'm going to have to try this one. I can see why this would fill you. As you say it's a carbo, protein, fruit, and a dairy all in one! Thank you my friend! Robbyn, xo, :)

My own version of Budwig Cream

In a cereal bowl I place 2 dessert spoons of fruit (frozen is fine if defrosted), 4 of muesli (no added sugar), 2 of creme fraiche or yoghurt, gently mix togeteher and top with more fruit. This keeps me going for about 5 hours.

I'm with you here...

I have either porrige with honey or greek yogurt with honey (full fat) & Duchy mixed flake cereal with apple or Dorset cereals organic museli with milk. Sometimes (not always), I'll have a piece of toast & marmalade too or some fruit (grapefruit, melon, banana). Any of these keep the hunger at bay at least until lunchtime. The oats are slow release and really help as do bananas. I get migraines if I go without food for too long but I haven't had any since I changed to more oats! first thing in the morning i

first thing in the morning i have big glass of water with little lemon juice & honey. literally it takes my hunger away. then i pressure cook rice with split chick peas(channa daal) 1:1 with little turmeric & salt.then i make tempering out of little cumin seeds, ginger, coconut and lemon juice. i just takes 10 mins to make. i just have 1 cup of it. i don't feel hungry at all may be because of high fiber i guess. sometimes i make this for dinner that time add lots of spinach or green beans with little black pepper with tempering.

mmm

I just tried this and it is really delicious! And it does keep me full longer I think. If only yogurt wasn't so much more expensive than oatmeal....but oh well. I really like this combo: 1/2 cup 2% strained yogurt 1 tsp flaxseed oil 5 cashews 1 tsp black toasted sesame seeds 2 tbsp rolled oats and usually 1/2 mashed banana mixed in, and then I accent the mixture with whatever other fruit I have at the time. Then I sometimes have a piece of toast with avocado on the side. Yummy breakfast!

Even though I like oatmeal by 10 am I'm hungry. If I have some scrambled eggs with salsa, a good portion of seasonal fruit, at least one glass of lemon water and only one cup of coffee I 'm good till lunch.

Unable to Help

I haven't found anything that works for me. If I'm really focussed on work, I find I don't get hungry, but if I'm not then I'm really hungry mid morning, no matter what I've eaten.
