Breakfast today
Today I had a piece of whole wheat toast with some almond butter and peanut butter along with a fresh pear and some tea. I pulled out Mireille's cookbook last night for some inspiration, so hopefully, I can post some interesting dinner dishes on the "what are you having for dinner" thread! I have added a few pounds lately so I am trying to get back on track! I fell into some old ways lately - snacking, grazing on what is in front of me, and eating standing up. I am trying to get back to three proper meals a day with lots of water, fresh fruit/veggies, and walking. I may do the MBC for breakfast this week too. Wish me luck!malkan

Yesterday I ate lunch out
Yesterday I ate lunch out with my husband and the restaurant served us a bread basket with wonderful looking cheese bread and cinnamon bread. We didn't touch them; we asked to have them wrapped. Just had a piece of each for breakfast. The cheese bread is unbelievably good. Black tea and 4 prunes.Vintage1944

I would never have thought of having the bread wrapped to take home.Bread is my petit demon and my great love.I simply can't send the bread basket away but this could work and extend the treat. Thanks for this.ChristineE

I bring home everything! I
I bring home everything! I eat half the portion-there's lunch the next day. I bring home whatever breads or crackers they've given me-breakfast or an accompaniment to another meal the next day. Our lunch came with dessert, too. We shared one slice of (heavenly) orange pound cake with a scrumptious glaze and had the chocolate ganache cake wrapped. Two days later we shared that with tea over a game of backgammon. You will be pleasantly surprised how far these items go! I can't believe some are able to force themselves to eat it all in one sitting!ChristineE

MBC
I must mention that I have been having this everyday for two years. The only time I haven't is when I cannot get my fave yogurt and then I am always amazed at how hungry I am all day. I had to laugh about a visit to the GI the other week, when the dr. told me to get acidophilous supplements. I told her I eat yogurt everyday. She replied I should still get the supplements, as most people do not eat high quality yogurt and are not consistent. I had to chuckle as I thought of everyone here, and how consistent we aim to be! Next visit I am taking the bottle in to show her the high quality as well as to remind her that I have eaten it everyday for two years!!!! Christine, I am totally with you on pancakes and sausage, my fave! I too have been struggling with compensations, so this week, I am focusing on 50%, chewing slowly, and drinking more water. I feel the difference already. I am always reassured how when I stray, once I come back, my body reponds beautifully!ChristineE

Mangled mango
My daughter loves mango and I have the worst time cutting it up for her! I've watched videos online to no avail. I don't love it, but I have been having a little bit when I cut one for her and I'm acquiring a taste for it.miamoki

Cutting mango
The best way I have found is to cut off one of the ends and stand it up. Then with your knife, get as close to the seed as you can and cut down the entire mango. Turn to the next side and repeat until you have done all four sides. Yes, it gets a little slippery when you get to the last side so if necessary, use a paper towel to hold it while you slice. Then you can just slice the skin off similar to an avocado. Hope this helps!ChristineE

Thank you Miamoki
The cutting tip was very handy, thank you! I felt I got all the edible fruit this time, whereas before I mangled the poor thing and wasted quite a bit.ChristineE

Really shouldn't brag
Well, today I had pancakes with bananas and sausage for breakfast. I love pancakes and sausage. They are a treat! I've been in the mood for them all week but waited until Sunday so we could enjoy them at a leisurely pace. Plus my grandmother was sent home from hospital yesterday (yea) and came to be with us for the weekend. Lovely breakfast on the back porch.miamoki

Ooh I do too!
I love pancakes and sausage too. Especially banana pancakes! YAY on your grandmotehr coming home from the hospital! Don't worry about it being a little unhealthy. You seem to be doing ok with your portions (down 5 pounds in a week and a half) - want to switch metabolisms?? LOLChristineE

Thank you!
You know what's made the biggest difference? Snack control!I had no idea how much I snacked! I had a little something between every meal and then a little treat at night with my tea! I have always had a healthy appetite, but this was ridiculous. I have cut out snacking altogether-except for a yogurt in the afternoon. But I don't really like yogurt all that much, it's more of an appetite suppressant.
