WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE DESSERTS?
Just wondering, what are some of your favorite desserts? Since I'm trying to lose weight, one of my favorites is Mereille's Apple Tart without the dough! It's yummy. Sometimes I warm Strawberries too and they taste divine! Any other ideas from you smart ladies? Robb, :D

Spice Cake
I make a yogurt spice cake in the fall/winter that is divine with some roasted chestnuts in butter on top. A little goes a long way, and most people look at us crazy when I serve the portions, but all agree it's so delicious you don't need more!Ava

All year round...
For Summer: Eton mess - fresh strawberries, chantilly cream & meringues with soft chewy centres (as they should be!) For added interest, I sometimes use mixed berries too (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries etc or add some shavings of 100% dark organic chocolate.) This is great to take on picnics and open air proms etc. It's lovely accompanied with a glass of elderflower 'champagne' (no alcohol, so great if you're driving!)For Autumn: Homemade crumble or pie - apple & cinnamon; rhubarb; berries; gooseberries; plums - anything in season! Served with cream / ice cream.
For Winter: Homemade rice pudding or compote, set & served with cream.
For Spring: Poached pears in Muscat served with green & blacks vanilla ice cream.
Anytime of year (and if you're losing weight, you can't go wrong with fresh fruit salad, served alone (or with cream / ice cream if you're feeling a bit naughty!)

Desserts
All sound really scrumptious.I think Eton Mess is in my top ten.Strwaberrirs, whipped cream and meringues.Soak the berries in wine or basalmic vinegar to bring out the sweetness. No fancy arranging...just mix it all together and YUM.I do love chocolate and having once been married to a Pastry Chef,I learned to truly appreciate the good stuff.I have become quite fussy.LOL.A really dark chocolate with spices added is to die for and spiced hot chocolate in cold weather, makes it all worthwhile.Jn fact.I might have some today.Iy is cold and it actually snowed last night. It didn't stay on the ground but soon...Marilyn

Panna Cotta
I just love it! Especially with fruit. But if I must confess my indulgence - sometimes all I want is a really good cookie. I mean not those national brands that lack flavor and you find yourself strapping the package on like a feed bag. No, I mean a fresh from the oven, intoxicating smelling bite of heaven. One that you saver each and every delictable bite. My uncle ran a bakery when I was a teenager so I know this pleasure most intimately. It's not the quantity, but the quality.Marilyn

Just love Panna Cotta. Another favourite is Lemon Posset. So simple to make and delicious to eat.On the cookie front I enjoy making them, especially in the winter. Nothing nicer than the smell of baking biscuits on a cold winter's afternoon!!

Put cream and sugar in a pan and bring to boilibg point. Add the lemon juice. Place in glasses to set in fridge (leave overnight). Must be eaten the next day. Before serving decorate with lemon or lime zest or raspberries. Enjoy. xx

Another great dessert
Here is a delicious, elegant dessert (but probably most appropriate in summer), that I have served for company: take a martini glass and add some raspberries. Drizzle with a little (unwhipped) heavy whipping cream, sprinkle over a tiny bit of brown sugar, and add a fresh mint sprig for color. Eveyone always oohs and ahhs when I serve this. It's beautiful and not too sweet or filling. Believe it or not, but my husband taught me this recipe just after we got married :)vickie2
