Carrot soup with ginger
Really warming and easy make soup from carrots and fresh ginger. I'll eat it with wholegrain french bread and a glass of Merlot! My kids probable need a hamburger with it on hamburger roll, but that's ok with me, as long as they take a bowl of soup too!Vintage1944

FRENCH MARKET "18 BEAN" SOUP
A great find in Regional American Foods is PURELY AMERICAN French Market 18 Bean Soup. The New Orleans French Market is America's oldest working city market with two of the existing buildings dating back to early 1800s. Today, the French Market is still thriving! Contents are: 18 beans, split peas, lentils with spices, celery, parsley and black, white and jalapeño peppers. Serves 10-12. Freezes beautifully. Enjoy! www.purelyamerican.comKimberly

Doctored-up soup from a box
I have some Trader Joe's roasted red pepper and tomato soup, to which I've added some pureed butternut squash I had in the freezer. A loaf of sourdough bread, and it's the quickest meal ever. I love soup these days and would love everyone's favorite, quick-to-the-table soup ideas.Elizabeth G

Chicken Tatin and Olive Bread
I made the Chicken Tatin in the French Woman for All Seasons book. I absolutely LOVED it. A LOT of work, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't let the number of servings listed on the recipe fool you... It says 6 servings, and if that is true, it is unbelievable. I would say easily 8 or 10 serving, if you serve anything with it. I made a green salad with poached pears and olive bread. I had great difficulty sticking with the 50 Percent Solution, it was all so yummy! =) ErinMarilyn

More chicken
Thighs and legs slowly cooked with leeks, carrots, parsnips and mushrooms in a herby stock. The skin and bones taken out, a dash of seasoning and eaten with some crusty bread. And there will be enough for tomorrow with the addition of some haricot beans.Robbyn

Cold Day Dinner
A pot of homemade lentil soup simmering all day on the stove. This time, I went with an infusion of spices from India... coriander, cumin, garam masala, and veggies including carrots, fennel, onion, potatoes, garlic, ginger, and tumeric root. I served it with a simple Indian rice palao. My kitchen smells so good!Farrah27

Roasted vegetables
This fall I have been roasting everything I can get my hands on! My husband loves my roasted brussel sprouts with herbes de provence and my daughter loves my carrots with cinnamon. I serve these with basic meatloaf or baked chicken and always a salad.snorklee

Pan-Roasted Chicken Breast with Stilton Cheese and Apples
It seems fairly quick to make, I have two year old twins. It has to be relative fast or the natives get restless. It seems to be very seasonal and a good use of the apples I picked last weekend.meneia

Leek Soup and Chicken
I came home from work at lunch time and have been sleeping all afternoon (headache, nausea and just general ickiness). I'm thinking leek soup and chicken for dinner. Fortunately I have some pre-cooked chicken breast in the fridge, so I just have to do the soup.kit

pioneer woman
My sister sent me the "Pioneer Woman" cookbook she's been raving about. Started with a blog, then the cookbook, soon a show on Food Network. Simple yet delicious country food. Made her recipe for pulled pork served wrapped in corn tortillas. Oh heavenly, tangy, spicy but not hot, melt in your mouth. Lots of leftovers for other meals. Yum!!!Leahrose

trying a new all-organic cafe uptown...
Its called Muffeletta (spelling?). I believe that is actually a name of a dish, but the restaurant has much much more than just that. Its advertised as all-organic, made-from-scratch. I hope its delicious!!! But we shall see... :)Ava

Salad from the garden
Lettuce, tomatoes, scarlet runner beans sliced thin, mixed with storebought cucumbers (mine are still in the blossom stage), and chopped ham. A drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette, and some leftover boiled potatoes, all with a sprinkling of sea salt and fresh-ground black pepper. Oh, and a glass of white wine from my new favourite Okanagan winery.
