soups in a slow cooker?
I'm a student in a dorm and so am not able to access a lot of cooking equipment to make some of the lovely recipes featured on this site. I'm keen to try some of the soup recipes and would like to know if they can be just put into a slow cooker and acheive the same result?

Yes!
I have two crock pots (one large and one travel size - long story short - ideal for when I'm away in hotels!) I make loads of things in them - soups, dinner...anything really that I have the imagination for. As mentioned, the aromas when you come back in are wonderful! Have fun trying out recipes and making things up as you go along...the good thing is - you can't really go wrong with them :-)ncmntngrl

I made Mireille's Mimosa Soup
I made Mireille's Mimosa Soup in my crock-pot. I've tried it both ways, and was pleased with both methods. Hope this helps. I love cooking with a crock-pot. You can set it before you leave, and the most intoxicating aromas greet you at the door when you come home. You can use less expensive cuts of meat without sacrificing flavor & because it's cooked slowly, the meat comes out extremely tender. Love, love, love!annie

great to hear!
thanks so much, I haven't yet bought a slow cooker/ crock pot but will most definately invest in one now that I know I can cook Mireille's soups in it. My mum is a big fan of the slow cooker and I know what you mean about the aromas, the smell of her lamb shanks cooking all day at her home when I visit is amazing! Can't wait to make my own!
