A minor miracle!

This morning I was down 3 pounds! On a whim I tried on a pair of jeans which were no longer zippering for me and lo and behold.... they fit! I'm attributing this miracle to our Food Journal thread. Accounting for what and how much I'm eating is working. Oh, happy day!

Congrats!

But don't call it a miracle. It's your inner French woman taking over. -Gina

Finally got the doctor to listen

to me and to my bronchial tubes. After I start working again last monday, the fever was back on wednesday and I was really short of breath. My own Doctor always says that my lungs are clear, and that's true, no doubt, but I knew there was an infection anyway. I had an other doctor this time and he said, there's nothing in your record but you should be on infection-blockers dayly to prevent this from happening all the time. Because the past 3 years I've had these episodes regular! I hope I'll feel better now soon!

The patient has so much knowledge...

A really good doctor listens to the patient and her instincts. Hope you feel better soon:)

Achieved the ever-elusive okay from Human Resources

for a standing desk! Which means instead of sitting for 8-10 hours a day, I'll have the option of standing OR sitting as comfort or fatigue dictates. Still not what nature intended, but I'm so pleased that soon I'll be able to be slightly less sedentary.

Outstanding!

Sorry for the pun. :) I read somewhere that people burn twice the calories standing than they do sitting. Brava! I may try that too, once my office is at home. This new desk job is spreading more than my assets. lol.

LOL!

"Spreading more than my assets"! You made me giggle! Why do workplaces make it so difficult to have a healthier work environment? Isn't it the most basic of common sense to realize... Hmmm, sitting on my ummm, assets for 9 hours... probably not a good thing. Very happy about the upcoming change.

Standing

I always stand when ironing and doing all household chores that could be done either standing or sitting. It's so much better on the posterior and you can do pelvic excercises at the same time along with clenching the glutes!!!!! It may look a bit weird but every little helps!

Very avant guard, Beth

I often stand at my hospital job while charting. People ask why but still don't get it. My office job is a tiny space so I sit, but try to get up often,do stairs to circulate blood. Glad for you!

Early Bed

I like going to bed early and getting up early too. I'm also liking these quiet, slow mornings. My soul needs them.

Getting back to this website!

I've been missing for a while...too much stress and such during the holidays and I miss my french sisters! I was holding steady through the holidays with my weight and then I sprained my back a week and a half ago. I was in excrutiating pain but it's finally starting to subside, so back to the gym I go tomorrow. Just going to start out easy and only do pilates. Thursdays I usually do three classes - weights, spinning and pilates but this Thursday is only going to be pilates. I will walk on Friday and Saturday and Sunday, just to keep moving so it doesn't get stiff again. They did tell me I have arthritis in my back which was not good news but I know that with the help of my french sisters I'll be back to my usual form in no time :) Linda

Happy New Year, sorry to hear about your back pain and hope it's going to be better now. I admire your devotion to your classes, bravo! You are not the only one MIA/doing some back-sliding. I was gone from FW during the holidays and in the depths of a self-imposed funk! Glad that's over and so glad to see you back:))

This is a weird one, but... flossing!

I don't know why, but I'm not a faithful flosser. I have flossed every single day since January 1. No more sore gums, no bleeding, it's becoming a natural routine and doesn't feel right going to bed un-flossed. Big step for me!

New Year off to a great start

Good day, I have been in a really long down time and have promised myself to rally after the new year. So far I have lost the holiday weight and have a much needed resolve to do this all the way through to victory. I feel I can connect to all you and others again. This is a small victory with personal meaning. The best kind. Deba

Hi Deba

Good to have you back. Make your goals achievable and then you can always move the goal posts once you have got there. As Mireille says baby steps and know yourself. Bonne chance.

Family Victory!

I wasn't sure where to post this, so here goes: Our son finished highschool last week, 3 years early! It's a GED or Highschool Equivalency test here, but he passed it on his first try. He actually started local college last year at 15, but can now move onto a traditional college. This is huge as he had been through seven different schools and struggled in most: teachers always stating that he asked too many questions and they did not have the time...but we always knew he was bright and thought maybe it was the schools, turned out it was! I am so glad he finally found the right environment in which to learn. My husband and I were so anxious about whether or not we made the right choices...so I think we are all happy for different reasons. Thanks for letting me share this with you, I am not usually too chatty about these things, but the relief is amazing! We had a little graduation party for him over the weekend, just the 3 of us and some cheesecake (gluten free of course!) It is quite a challenge to find graduation things in January!

Good for him!!!

Congrats on your bright son! I know exactly where you are comming from! My eldest son had the same problems on high school. He got so bored sometimes because there was no challenge for him and the teachers got bored of his questions too, so he had to sit in the hallway for days! Now at 25 he has done a dutch and an english master "cum laude" and is doing his Phd in history. He gives lectures and publishes sometimes. Now he's in an enviroment where people are on his level and beyond and he's really happy with life! I hope your son will have a nice time at college now and find his way in life too!

Fabulous news!

Your son sounds like a future leader--the world needs those who question. Traditional settings operate as if all of us learn in unison. No time for individual thinkers! Good for you all:)

Absolutely fabulous

This is the best news ever.He is a truly remarkable young man.He is intelligent, charming and handsome.I have had the good fortune to meet him.

As for too many questions? How many are too many?It strikes me these teachers missed an opportunity to really teach and help him and his classmates learn.Imagine the research he/they could do to learn the answer and share their new found knowledge and skill.I am so happy he triumphed.OXO
