Protein/Carb/Fat ratio mentioned in "French Women for All Seasons"

On page 89, Mireille writes "My three-meal-a-day menus provide a mix of proteins, carbohydrates, and fat, according to a rough ration of 50-60/40-30/10 percent respectively." Was this a typo? She doesn't mean she gets 50% protein, right? I don't think this would be possible unless you took a protein supplement or you ate meat at all meals. Does she mean 50-60 carb, 40-30 fat, and 10 protein? Looking at her menus, it would seem she gets more than 10% protein though... Thanks if anyone understands this part!

And I say...

Why bother with percentages? Go to Mireille's article in here (you can find it after searching quickly in the homepage) where she describes portions. That's A LOT easier!

I agree that percentages

I agree that percentages aren't the most important thing, but I do like to compare what I happen to eat with what others do. 30-40% protein and only 10% fat still seems like a lot of protein and little fat based on the sample menu plans though.

10% fat

I've found that 10% fat is a tiny amount. It's very hard to stick to unless I'm eating mostly fruits and vegetables... which I guess is the idea. :) I think most of that fat allotment comes from eating 30-40% lean protein without eating any additional fats... which, again, is probably the idea. However, there is no fat in wine, which appears to be a very good idea. Enjoyment in eating the French way seems to be about eating lean meats, lots of fruits and vegetables and small amounts of naturally low fat carbs, like baguettes, and oatmeal, and other whole grains, (prepared without added fat)... and having that healthy balance with that lovely glass of wine with dinner.

Carb/protein/fat ratio

Oread, you are right.  This was a typo in the original French Women Don't Get Fat.  The correct ratio is roughly 50-60% carbs, 30-40% protein and 10% fat.
