Tees
(I haven't posted in ages, but I've been reading away daily with great delight.) Emerging from lurking on this topic - my favorite tees, by far, are from Petit-Bateau. I got hooked on them when I was in Paris ten years ago, stocked up, and still have some of those originals thanks to careful hand-washing. I'm even happier that they are easily available in the United States now. Other favorites: J. Crew and Ann Taylor. My one requirement is that they are long enough. Nothing looks more sloppy than a tee that rides up.miamoki

Found some yesterday!
They are long sleeved crew neck tees but I love them. I have two from Ann Taylor Loft that are 93% cotton and 7% spandex. I have worn them to death!! The spandex helps them keep their shape. I found three yesterday at Banana Republic and they are so soft and I love them. Plus they were on sale!! I got all three long sleeve tees for $27.00. Can't beat that! I hear you Jean when you talk about the arms you could use as wings! I am so frustrated with the shape of my arms and my inability to work out due to my shoulder. I do some weights in therapy but I need to ask my therapist if I can do some other things. Sigh. As for turtlenecks - I am SO GLAD I don't live in a climate where they are required. I hate them - can't stand anything tight around my neck. I feel like I'm going to choke.Vintage1944

Roll necks
Luckily, as I live in the North UK I ca just about get away with a turtle or roll neck sweater. I actually love the cosy feel on a cold day as we have today. Looking forward to a couple of new Ts for Spring but will go with some sort of sleeve. Have started the tricep dips in readiness for summer!!!!!Naja

Found a good tee
Okay, admittedly, I haven't found the "perfect" tee- I'll know it when I see it- but I've found some great tees. They're made of a pima cotton and modal blend with a silk trim, so they're light and breath easily. I got it in two colours- grey and white- but I've just discovered that it comes in black too, so I'm planning to get it in black as well. Also, I found a lovely olive-y silk tee, which is very soft on the skin. I got all these tees from "witchery", which has stores all around Australia and New Zealand.Nya_Nya

Too bad I'm from Europe :) I can't find the perfect tee, either. I have wide shoulders and quite a narrow waist so either a tee is too baggy around my stomach or it pulls me across the shoulders.MrsKoller

Arm Wings
I have trouble with the perfect tee as well. I am a little "top heavy" shall we say, so to get a shirt to fit it has to have a narrow waist or I look like a guy. Even when I do find one, the arms are always too tight. I can't seem to get rid of the "wiggle wagle" under my upper arms. It's very frustrating.Vintage1944

OMG
The wiggle waggle under the arms.Horrors.I hate it.Mine could likely funtion as wings.Yuk.I prefer long or 3/4 length sleeves.Nya_Nya

3/4 sleeves are the bestest!
I don't really like long sleeved tees, except for turtlenecks. 3/4 sleeves, however, I adore! Not because I have problems with my upper arms, which I don't, but simply because they look much more sophisticated and feminine. It's summer however, so short sleeves are more practical. Nothing beats a black long-sleeved turtleneck, however! Perhaps that's why I much prefer autumn and winter to summer ;)MrsKoller

Turtlenecks rule!
I have always loved turtlenecks. They are just so classic - so Audrey Hepburn. I love wearing a black one and then I punctuate them with a tiny scarf or my pearls or a nice simple but bold necklace. I also like belts. They really are your friend if you pick the right one and most women don't know which one to pick. But, sigh, it is summer and it is far too hot and the arms must be exposed. They say it is genetic, but I still don't like it. It ruins the whole silouette.

Belts
Which belt should a woman pick? The only rule I abide by is to belt at the natural waist, never lower. What about silk shawls to cover the arms? That should not be too hot, even in summer, but might solve your problem?Vintage1944

Sigh
Short sleeves and sleeveless are long gone in my life.Do love a long sleeved turtle neck.Don't wear them anymore either...has to do with menopause and hot flashes. No more wool either.I layer cotton tees and cardigans. But you are a long way from that.;-))Marilyn

Noooo!!! Though it's currently Winter where I live, so I'll worry a bit more when Summer arrives. lol. I want something with an amazing cut with maybe an edgy little pocket on it. Oh, also a tee that doesn't get all lint-y after a few wears.MrsKoller

I cannot find one
My problem is that I am a little "top heavy" and as I lose more weight around the middle, it becomes more pronounced. I am also short-waisted. So you can see my dilemma - I am just an odd lot. LOLVintage1944

I am there
Top heavy, short waisted and have love handles ...the kind you read about. So Tees are a bit of a problem.I buy plus sizes and like Calvin Klein and Kate Hill,at Lord and Taylor. It is my go to store when I am in NY.Not actually a "Label"person, but some things are better made than others.cigalechanta

Alas, I'd found it, but it's
Alas, I'd found it, but it's no longer made. I was buying the Cherokee Ultimate Tees (cotton with just a touch of spandex) at Target, and they've been replaced with the Mossimo Ultimate Tee this year, which is considerably skimpier and more transparent. Fortunately, I'd bought a few each of black and white (raiding the clearance racks whenever I went to Target), but I know the white ones at least won't last forever. The black ones I can re-dye as they fade. Sigh.Vintage1944

The perfect Sweater?
Hi, you mentioned you found your perfect sweater- which one is it? :-) I recently bought three t-shirts made by Icebreaker. They are very very fine merino wool and are reputed to breathe really well in summer. It's winter here so I haven't checked that capability yet. But they don't crush and do fit very nicely. Banana Republic
Banana Republic makes nice fitted tee but not clingy--you can have a bit of a pouch and still get a good fit. However, not to Parisian (I mean mass marketing) but I went to a buyout store today and found Nallie & Millie tees for pilates. They feel like silk--the spandex and they were $17.00 then 50% off, so I bought four of them. I also bought a 3/4 sleeve charcoal tee-ish top/J. Jill, and a black Banana Republic tee (I stock BR tees) and my total was $41.00 after getting $10. off for spending over $50. for the lot. Hate mass marketing, wish I could shop like a Parisian, but this was great.Gigi L - Georgine

Lands End tees
I just bought a bundle of Lands End tees for $10.00 each and no shipping. Now they have regular and modern cut. I have always had such wonderful luck with them. Also LL.Bean and Banana Republic and don't forget the Gap. I guess it really is about what you will use them for? For cleaning and yard work, I use Old Navy or Walmart. Than I don't cry if they rip or stain.Vintage1944
