New Beginnings......
Today I realized it is not the end but the beginning. Papers signed and just waiting the 4-6 weeks. In the interim, trying to lay out a life for myself and see what happens. Realized I had been unhappy for a long time and just did not want to give in to it. Now I am working more but also feel a heaviness lifted off my shoulders. Lots of things to be planned. For some time now I have wanted to go back to England where I had visited my brother before (North Yorkshire). I mentioned it to my sister-in-law and she said she is ready to go. She told my brother and he said he is going too. So maybe this Fall I will be back in a place I loved so much. Also recently made a friend from there so you never know where it will lead. Still fresh out of my situation but they say you find them when you are least looking and I am least looking :) Any way......I can't wait to get there. It's a new beginning for me.

Here's to new beginnings
You will probably have a brief period of grieving but that is normal..don't get too upset, you aren't mourning the loss of him necessarily, just the loss of a relationship. But when they go bad like they sometimes do, there really is no other option and life is short, so don't spend too much time worrying about it. You have a good attitude and that is half the battle. I just came back from a trip abroad and have already started trying to get my inner french woman back. I went to France and saw how they go to open door markets, and walk walk walk everywhere, and I did the same. I had brought my pedometer with me and I logged in 10 miles while I was there in one day. AND I didn't even feel it. I had a great time walking around the city with dh and then went back to the ship (we were on a cruise) and didn't have to hit the gym. It was great. Now that I am back home, I already started watching my portions. We had turkey on the grill, baked potato and corn on the cob. I looked at the size of the corn on the cob and cut it in half and did the same with the potato! You sound like you are well on your way to finding your way. Good luck! :)snorklee

Best of everything to you, Kimberly. You are right. Life is short. Much too short to spend it unhappy. You are strong, and will make the most of it. Enjoy England.Cheers,

Hi Kimberley
So pleased you are beginning to move foward into the next phase of your life. Where are you going to in North Yorkshire as I am not that far away? In fact we are planning a possible visit to a Tulip Festival near Leyburn next weekend. A FWDGF meeting up peut etre!! Let me know how your plans go and you never know. Bonne chance.Kimberly

Hi Marilyn!
We will be visiting Harrogate and the surrounding area. Most likely the last week of OCtober/first week of November. About two weeks. The plans are not set in stone yet, but that is our goal. We will probably finalize it around July. The first place my brother lived was a little area called Dacre Banks. Very tiny little village area but so pretty. That is where I visited them. After that they moved right into Harrogate. I never visited them in their house there but I did enjoy our visits into town. There was a particular little book store there and I think it still exists. Thats where I picked up some of my old poetry books; Wordsworth and such. Also remember picking out fabric to create a keepsake photo album. I just want to go visit some of the places we visited before....Knaresborough, Skipton, Haworth. Loved Fountains Abbey. Went to an outdoor play one night. It was great. I am sure there are many more things I did not get to see the first time. Any suggestions? KimberlyMarilyn

Hi Kimberley
Funnily enough OH and I have booked for a couple of nights in June into a hotel in Harrogate. In fact last week I spent a sunny Sunday at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show. They have an Autumn one as well but I think it is in September so will be too early for you. It is a beautiful area and with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales you will find plenty to see and do. I will do some research for you and give you some internet links. York, of course, is one of the obvious places to visit if you have not been before. Watch this space!!Marilyn

Thanks for the link....
I've been so "homesick" that I went onto Google maps with the streetview feature and have walked all over Harrogate (virtually speaking). I went out to see the area my brother lived in Dacre Banks by the river Nidd. I have made a friend there and he is anxious for me to get there. We will go to York I am sure as he has mentioned that. I went before but it was an awful rushed day. Barely got into the minster and we had to go as they had something going on. He has also promised to take me to Scarborough. I had wanted to go the first time but did not make it there. Who knows what else is in store. Fraankly speaking, if you drive me through the countryside I am a happy girl. It's just beautiful. And I do love Harrogate. My impression is that it is beautiful and has everything one needs without being overwhelming. There always seems to be something fun going on there or in the area. I like that one can walk almost anywhere they need to go or can take a train or bus. That's one of the unfortunate things about the US is that one needs a car for anything they do. The dates though again, not set in stone, are Oct. 24-Nov 7. I hope the weather is not too bad then. Here in the US its one of my favorite seasons and is usually very beautiful then. I can hardly wait.Vintage1944
