Walking along the Amsterdam canals on a sunny spring weekend is the way to go. The number of bikes is amazing...NY and Paris have a way to go.
Friends recommended this for lunch...De Belhamel on one of our favorite canals , Herengracht 60. Art nouveau setting, duplex restaurant with a lovely terrace. Great salads, vegetarian dishes and superb duck and game. Don't skip the apple tart with chantilly.

I have wanted to visit Antwerp for years but must admit that after seeing the work of a few designers much less known than Dries Van Noten in Paris these last few years, I became more and more curious. I am delighted to have discovered this little gem of a town that transports you to another era. Of course, a visit to the cathedral is a must if only to see some of Rubens' major works.
Seeing Van Gogh's series on almond trees at the Van Gogh museum recently made me long for the real thing and here are the last branches caught on our "chemin" in sunny Provence. The lavender is far from ready but the perfume in the air on the bike rides is intoxicating. Vive la campagne provencale.
