Little treats
On another subject I was reading about Mireille's appletart without dough is such a nice little treat when you are recasting. That made me think about little treats and little "secret pleasures"....One of mine is to make myself a big hot strong mug of Chai tea with some soymilk and a teaspoon honey when I come home from work early, sit and enjoy it, just watching my cats play or the birds in the garden.....
What's yours??

cooking
Cooking is one of my little treats. I enjoy it so much and I watch the food channel all the time looking for new ideas and new recipes. When I was working I didn't have time and now that I'm retired I'm really enjoying it. Yesterday we had a bunch of people over and my husband had made a paella for everyone. Since there were plenty of leftovers, I didn't have anything to cook today. But I was looking around the kitchen and I saw these really ripe bananas and remembered that I had some leftover fresh whipped cream that I had used to make a frozen key lime pie for the company. So I took the bananas and pureed them and then added the whipped cream to them. They are in the freezer now, in these small little ramekins and will be like having a frozen banana and cream pie :) So I used up the leftovers and made them into something completely new!kit

bananas!
Hi Miamoki, sounds delish, will have to try. I recently found out that you can freeze peeled bananas whole for later use, though I haven't tried it yet. Love the food channel and the cooking channel too. Cooking channel has a great show called French food at home. French Woman's principles, fresh food, lovingly cooked, enjoyed slowly and savored. Bon appetit! Tinamiamoki

French food at home
Yes I watch it as often as I can. It especially helps me with my plating as far as putting in different veggies for more color in the plate. DH says that it looks like restaurant food when I serve it, so that's always nice to hear! Yes - freezing bananas works well. For a nice summer treat, I freeze them and then slice them while frozen, and dip them in melted chocolate and then re-freeze them. Yummy! It's a nice change from strawberries dipped in chocolate :)kit

rediscovering tea
Hello MrsHonniB! You've inspired me! Was reading daily rituals and little treats. Realized I have none. I really like tea but know so little about real brewing, tea pots, etc. But just tonight after dinner, instead of my usual routine getting ready for work tomorrow (and doing my usual worst-case scenario pre-emptive worrying),I brewed some chai-coconut tea, took down a china cup and saucer from its seldom used location, poured in a splash of REAL cream, and went outside to the patio. I live in Southern Calif for gosh sakes, couldn't ask for nicer weather, big silly dog always ready to sit at my feet, what was I waiting for?? Only there 10 minutes, but saw a hummingbird drinking from my "kangaroo paw" plants, felt the slight breeze on my cheek, heard the evening birds communicating before the sun set. Not feeling hungry or needy nor anything except renewed. Will try to keep it up. Thx to everyone for great inspiration! XO TinaVintage1944

Lincoln
Thank you for that website, Jean. I love Lincoln, it's one of my favourite cities. I was born and brought up about 20 miles from there and still get a thrill when I see the cathedral sitting on top of the hill. It's a few years now since I last visited.Vintage1944

I agree, this is a wonderful
I agree, this is a wonderful thread. After all, it is the little things in life that makes it worth living. One of my little treats is to put on one of my favourite cds when coming home after work and have a cup of tea while just relaxing to the music.snorklee

What a good topic!
It made me realize how far I've strayed from the little pleasures of life. It's so easy to become bogged down in work, bills, and daily life. Thank you for reminding me. :)One of my little pleasures is taking coffee and breakfast to bed on a Sunday morning, and browsing through this website. I love the relaxed feel of Sundays and nestling into the pillows with my cats.

Sun
A little treat today. The first time OH and I had lunch sitting on our patio in the back garden. It was just warm enough, an extraordinarily warm day for March. It is one of my favourite things.
