Leek week and Bombshell wrap up!

Well Ladies, I am planning on beginning a two day leek soup weekend with tonight's meal and will finish with lunch on Friday. Afterwards I intend to complete the sojourn with a personal bombshell weekend. During this time I intend to reset my equilibrium, journal (privately), and end with being open to wonderful positive things happening all around. I hope to be able to slow down, find my center and focus on all that is good in my life. I welcome any and all to join in on any level. I would love the companionship. I will check in regularly. Yours in all things french, Viva La Diva

The soup is on!

This time I diced the leeks, so it will resemble a miso soup, or onion soup. These leeks actually made my eyes water! I used the pot that I rummaged for at an antique store a month ago. I love that it has a history. We searched for an hour to find a lid for it. It was only $5! I already feel a sense of relief for the stillness and quiet that is ahead. I read the Magical Leek Weekend section again, and found that the word 'nourishment' stood out. How do I nourish myself? Two weeks ago I made wonderful turkey soup. When I tasted the broth, I found it to be very nourishing. We all gathered aroud the pot and kept tasting it. It met the need of all our senses. I love that food is nourishment, but what other forms are there? I am going for a walk while the sun is out and my energy is up, I will contemplate the word nourishment while my leeks simmer.

hi Viva

I'm focusing alot on pleasure which is another way of thinking about what nourishes me. Food used to be my #1 nourishment, crutch, best friend, you name it. These past two months not turning to food as the sole nourishment and focusing on all my senses is teaching me alot. Music nourishes me in a way, I have never experienced before. Smells too, I've played with new scents and also noticed food scents much more. My body care routines are nourishing me deeply. Losing weight is wonderfully nourishing to me. Sometimes now when my best friend calls this too I experience as deep soul nourishment. It is like I am learning to enjoy the moment and be present for the moment and this nourishes me.

Hi Jas,

It is amazing, non, how many other things there are that are nourishing, and bring us pleasure. I am so glad you have discovered new pleasures and ways to nourish yourself. What kind of music brings you joy?

music is a new source

Music is a new source of conscious nourishment and pleasure for me. At home lately I've been listening to Yo Yo Ma, Lorena McKennet, Baka, Peter Gabriel, Lenard Cohen. I just ordered a Carla Brunni CD because someone on the list recommended it. I'm feeling attracted to mysterious women's voices (Lorena) but I don't have much music of that kind. In the car (don't laugh) I listen to Country Music. It is simple, ordinary, and something about that I like. What about you?

Great music selections!

I discovered Carla Bruni not too long ago. I love all that she represents, and she is quite a talent too! I went through a country phase. You are right the simplicity of it is somewhat reassuring somehow. I will look into Lorena Kennet. Today while fasting I tuned into the lull of the new age setting on our xm. It was tranquil background music, and helped me just 'be'.

First Bowl

I had my first bowl of soup. Once again, I find it to be restorative. I have also juiced an orange and diluted it into a pitcher of water to drink. I find it more refreshing than lemons right now. Fatigue has kicked in quickly this time. I am struggling with letting go of the multitude of tasks to be done, as well as the men in my life that need me! (I say that with love in my heart!)I am reflecting on balance, nourishment, and pleasures. Where did I get off course and how can I steer myself back?? I am off to a concert, then home to a good night's sleep. Bon Soir!

Concert

I hope you enjoyed your concert and of course the good sleep. I find sleep to be the most restorative thing for mind and body, natures way of nourishment.

Breakfast

I can feel a difference already. I am groggy, but allowing myself a cup of coffee. I love my morning cup! I am relieved to know I have this tool that helps me get back on track and reconnected. I am releasing food as a stress reliever, and moving on to sleep, journaling, and reading today. It really is about quality over quantity!

Lunch and a snack

I enjoyed leeks again with some yogurt for lunch. I am combining the leek and budwig cream detox. In regards to nourishment, I was able to see all the things I do that interefere with getting what I need. Sometimes, it is as simple as doing too much and needing a cup of tea. S l o w i n g down and changing gears is just what I needed today. I was able to sort some things out through journaling. I am feeling clearer in my thoughts and able to breathe with greater ease. I am always amazed at how complex we humans are! Just when I think I know myself, I learn so much more. I am looking forward to cooking tomorrow and having peaceful days ahead. They are a choice, you know. I will post again before bed. In stillness, Viva

the mental/spiritual clearing

Hi Viva, It sounds like you are doing well. I also find that the mental and spiritual clearing that happens in detoxing is very powerful. If you can read the I need help section...yesterday I hit a hard spot. When I got through it I realized it was a simple as stopping everything asking myself what I needed and then focusing there. I needed to just rest a little while. When I finally got there to resting, slowing down, calming down after a while everything calmed down. It is amazing this journey of life and learning.

Good Morning!

It IS a good morning. I was unable to post before bed as we were dealing with the teenager! However I awoke this morning to find I felt better physically. The combined day of rest with plenty of fluids in the form of tea, leeks, and water is just what was needed. I still plan to reset my equilibrium by making a pot of Soup au Legume and Mimosa Soup. My family loves these and reading over the recipes I was reminded how rehydrating they are. Winter can be very drying. I am off to market! While I am out I plan to get a few nurturing items for my bombshell weekend. This one will be different, as I am going to make sure I focus on doing things that bring me pleasure. I am going to make valentines! Creativity is the balance I need back in my life. Cheers!

winter

I am having trouble with dry skin too...I'm drinking more water and yet I know I could drink even more. I will be interested to see what else you do for your bombshell weekend. This website is so inspirational to me. Here, we are in another winter storm. So I'm snowed - iced in for at least 2 days. I'm fine with this, as it gives me time to get most of my cleaning and reorganizing in my office finished--this will be a major celebration when I'm done. Oh I'm also going to post in rituals (but I can't remember what section) I remembered a neat healing/relaxing ritual that emerged again last night.

Dry skin rescue

I am here to tell you that if you eat grapes your skin will soften out. I think it is in the skins of the grapes but what a huge difference in my skin when I started eating them more regularly. I know that grapeseed oil is good too. I figure you can't go wrong with grapes.

Grapes to the rescue!

Even out of season?

frenchy

POSTED: Sat, 02/06/2010 - 8:30am

Ooops

I'm sorry Diva I forgot the season thing. Here in Florida it always seems to be season for everything. We are getting grapes from somewhere and they are on sale so I buy them by the basket load. We have our specific seasons for things like citrus and apples(these are shipped in) but the farmer stands are always loaded with produce.

Journey

We too will be snowed in soon. We are expecting 18 inches. The markets were simply packed. It was fun though as I met some nice people! As for dry skin, we only have one humidifier running this year, I feel the difference. I will definitely look at your other posts. I love your comments about asking what you need. Sometimes it is that simple. I am looking forward to being snowed in, slowing down some more. Cooking. Relaxing, journaling, reading, etc.

your up in Connecticut right? My sister in PA got 18 inches and it was still snowing. It is fun to hunker down and be inside. However we really could use sun and to dry out for a while. Enjoy your day.

Jas, we are in NJ. It was so deep right around the bend from us that they sent NY reporters to cover it. We are fine, though. Frenchy, we have been getting grapes in our local markets and they have been calling my name. Seasonality aside, I'm in! So to wrap up my bombshelling, I read my favorite quarterly magazine and allowed myself to be inspired. My office is entirely ready for me to be creative. Last night I gave myself a facial and today, since our new washing machine doesn't work I dressed up to lounge around and painted my nails! It looks to be a busy week ahead, and I am prepared. I will not have time in the next month to go to market my usual four trips per week, so I stocked up yesterday. This way I can spend my mornings cooking our healthy faves and the evening on the road with my budding musician. I am glad I took the time to find some balance again. I intend to continue journaling and checking in here more frequently. I have missed all of you. Thank you for sharing my experience! I am off to another movie with my husband. Cheers to snowy days and spring blooms ahead.

So pleased to hear you are safe and well stocked up. You will miss your trips to the market. That is one thing I intend to do more when I fully retire at the end of this month. I will get my basket down from the loft and dust it down ready for use.
The thought of you on the road with your budding musician reminds me of DD's school days, a round of band and choir practices and hours spent by the swimming pool as she was a synchronised swimmer. I got to recognise her feet very well as she spent most of the time underwater!!!!
