hormone replacement therapy
Okay, everyone, how do the French handle menopause and hormone replacement therapy? I have been on therapy for about 5 yrs and have gone off. I am going to try the natural bioidentical replacement therapy. I had tried it about 6 yrs ago and had breakthrough bleeding so swtiched to the synthetic hormones. What would Mireille say about dealing with menopause?

Just starting to experience hot flashes myself...
and I am not quite 41. I am researching herbal/Chinese medicine options for now... Black cohosh comes highly recommended by a close friend currently experiencing the same discomfort. I would WELCOME any suggestions! ErinVintage1944

Well past
menopause.I did HRT for about a year after the total Hysterectomy.Didn't feel it made any difference to me and because I felt the risks out weighed the benefits,I came off it.I used natural products which for me were limited in usefulness. The hot flashes remained unabated for a long time.Things are better now.It is a very personal choice and you should discus it with your MD or other Health Practitioner.OXOMarilyn

HRT
I used it for 7 years and was gradually weaned off to check the symptoms had abated when I had a few visits to the local breast clinic (no serious problems). The lumpy 'boobs' were the only side affect I had luckily and therefore it served a purpose. Natural products did not work for me. Again a personal choice after taking advice from a specialised nurse at our GP's surgery. As Jean says discuss with your GP or other specialist.Marilyn
