Hello & Help????

Hi There, I have just joined the community follwing a recent purchase of the now infamous FWDGF cookbook. I love it already and can't wait to try tantes MBC. however, my biggest problem is trying to loose weight surrounded by picky fussy non dieting eaters. My one son has a severe nut allergy, my husband is stick thin, and my eldest just won't eat.I've tried EVERYTHING to try and get him to eat, but if its not lasagne he's not interested (and there are only so many times a week you can cook that!!) Please help.......

Wow, Thanks Guys....

Such support and nice words thanks soooo much. It's really good to hear some kind non judgemental words. Have tried tantes MBC, fabulous. If you haven't already..... DO. also have just completed the leek broth day, much nicer than I though, think I might be a leek convert. Have not tried MBC With the kids yet but with the weekend looming, might just give it a whirl..... Thanks again Guys, much appreciated.

Good luck!

I hope you manage - MrsColler gave you excellent advice. I can't really help you with tried-and-tested advice because I still live with my parents, and while you can re-raise your children and even reprogram your husband you can't do the same to your parents, especially when you are not financially independent yet :) An idea for your eldest: What if you start with variations of classical lasagna for a start? Vegetables instead of meat, or at leas in addition to meat, and with different side dishes and a starter between? He (or she) can still have lasagna for the main course, but a smaller portion, with something else as accompaniment, but some soup or salad as a starter - if (s)he doesn't eat that, (s)he gets no lasagna. Btw, what does (s)he eat apart form lasagna? (S)He has to eat something, right? Breakfast?

Order up!

I ran in to the same problem for a while. Basically I made my family understand that I am not a short order cook. They may put in requests for what they want, but the way you are eating is healthy for all of them. If they can't get behind that, then that is a shame. The one that will not eat will eventually get hungry. This happens often when one member of the family becomes committed to a lifestyle change (remember - this is NOT a diet). They push back and it becomes a battle of wills. The only one who can take care of you is you. If they want something different then they can cook it themselves. The foods available with this lifestyle are amazing. The flavors are fresh and enticing. Now my family loves the way I cook. It is about balances. Just because your husband is thin doesn't mean that he isn't missing important nutrients. My aunt is super thin but her cholesterol is through the roof! Try introducing the foods a few at a time and soon they should be more accommodating as you add more. As you learn, you are teaching your family good nutrition and they will pass these habits on to their own children.

My teenager also has a SEVERE nut allergy and yet we still eat the "french way". My fiance is an old meat and potatoes man but I have figured out meal plans that keep him happy as well. Sit your family down and discuss this with them. Tell them what your ultimate goals are and how they will also be good for them. Present it as an exciting culinary adventure. Let the picky one go through the cookbook with you and flag some things he would like to try. Get them involved. Meal time is family time so let the family be involved in it.

Keep me posted on how it's going. I am happy to lend my support in any way I can!
