Healthier choices
Hi. I wanted to get a guide on what products and brands are better (in terms of healthier).Oeatmeal: For the Grandma Louise's Oatmeal, what do you think about Quaker Oatmeal?
Milk for Yogurt: I've read in this forum that full-fat milk is the best one?
Cereal: What cereal do you have? I have All-Bran. But I think has too much sugar.

More questions: Curd or
More questions:Curd or Cottage Cheese: Have you ever made your own curd or cottage cheese? I used to make it. Since now I am making my own yogurt I think will give a try again on making my own chesse. The process to me is very similar to yogurt. I follow these steps: http://www.realepicurean.com/2009/10/how-to-make-curd-cheese/ In my opinion is good for salads or with bread. But of course would never change it for a good pieace of emmental cheese (my fav)
I like to do my own things. If are easy to do, I think is fun and healthier.
Soy Milk: I never buy from supermarket, but I buy the soy beans and make my soy milk for the week. I like cows milk but have my periods of time when I like to have soy milk instead. I wonder if you guys find soy milk a better option? (not for yogurt, I like for cereal, tea).

Good advices!
Thank u all for your great advices! This weekend I bought everything from organic shop and fresh fruits/veggies from the market. I only went to supermarket for milk and tea :) I think is great to start to thinking less in super market labels products. I think we get used to get stuff from supermarket. But recently I've noted a big difference on simple products (no additives on). I already had a bag of Quaker oatmeal which I will use but next time I know what to look for!Vintage1944

Hi There
I agree with Deb and Jas.If you use full fat products you need less and you are more satisfied.Clean food is best;avoid additives if at all possible.OXo Jeansnorklee

Healthy choices
Hi, IHeartParis, I use Quaker Old-Fashioned oats for Grandma Louise's Oatmeal. It cooks down in a creamy, comforting way. I've also used steel-cut oats for this recipe, but the cooking time is longer to get that creamy consistency. I've used full-fat milk for yogurt, and I've also used 2%. I read somewhere that Mireille uses 2% milk sometimes as well. Of course full-fat anything is usually more satisfying and keeps us full longer. I like Grape-nuts cereal, although I'm not a big cereal person. I'll sprinkle it on yogurt and fruit for breakfast sometimes. Usually, the more natural the product, the better. You can't go wrong with fresh fruits and vegetables, and use products with as few ingredients as possible. The more sugar, sodium and chemicals in a product, the farther away from natural it is. Happy eating!jas

my rule of thumb
For me, I buy in bulk in the organic grocery store. I try not to buy name brands. Little and local is how I usually try to buy.IHeartParis
