Hair!

Hello Everyone! Just wondering how many others have hair issues,..especially Curly hair issues? Why is it that our hair has so much power over how we feel? Good hair day,..good day! Bad hair day,..bad day! :) How about being 50 something and trying to decide if you should cut it short,..grow it long,..color, highlight, or let it go grey,...decisions, decisions. More importantly,..Any suggestions on hairstyles for curly hair, or hair products for curly hair. Looking forward to your replies! Thankyou, Renee

Hair cut for curly hair...

I do belive a good hair cut will do wonders! I do not color anymore,as my hair has got thiner..i do get it cut every 6 weeks.. I do keep it shorter,as its so easy to do... Right now,it has got to long,to my shoulders, and i do need a good grooming!

Curly hair

Wash and wear hair is what I want.I keep it short ,as it looses the curl if it is long.A cut very 4-6 weeks is what works well for me.A good haircut is a treat.OXO

And straight

Mine is straight and fine and I keep it short a la Mia Farrow in her heyday. I need to have it cut every 4 weeks but it is worth it.

Another Haircut

I have decided to stop wishing I had long, thick, or high maintenance hair, and embrace it for what it is. So I'm currently sporting a chin length curly bob. The curls aren't natural so it will turn into a chin length slightly wavy bob by Monday, but I think it has a nice twenties flapper vibe.

A flapper vibe

sounds lovely! You wouldn't believe the amount of time I've spent trying to achieve that look with pins, setting lotions and a lack of patience!

Enjoy your new look - lucky you! :-)

Hair Cut

I'm getting a hair cut tomorrow. Off to a salon I haven't been to before, so hopefully it goes well. I'm thinking either a blunt fringe or a side swept fringe. I don't want to lose too much length, so it will be just above shoulder length. I'm going for sleek, chic and professional while still youthful.

Let us know how it went.....

I am a hair rebel you might say. My mother did hair so I was never afraid to cut, color or even perm (in the early years). I always knew that whatever the result, if it wasn't what I expected I could always change it. And if I cut it short, it would eventually grow out. Let us know whaich style you chose and if you like it.

Results

I went with the side swept fringe. We talked it over and decided the blunt fringe was probably too high maintenance for me. So far so good, but the real test will come when I first wash and dry it myself. The cost was ridiculously cheap (about a quarter of what I expected to pay) so if I do decide I like the cut, I can go in for trims far more often that I used to.

Bad haircuts, anyone?

I posted elsewhere that I got a haircut two days ago and for the first time in four years with this hairdresser, really REALLY hate my hair. I've been trying to grow my bangs out and admittedly it wasn't a good look for me, but my hair is quite wavy. So when I told her I was ready for bangs again, she cut them too short and they are short, frizzy and ridiculous! I also got my hair colored and was so excited to go red... I have naturally brassy auburn hair and decided to embrace the red that most of my family has. Well, it's not a pretty natural red. It's that weird burgundy color that we see too often... in fact when she first blew it out after the cut/color, I said, "No! It's pink!" and she agreed, and added brown undertones. So we've gone from pink to purpley-burgundy, and I plan to wash it 3 times tomorrow with Prell (which washes out new color). So disappointed, almost in tears! I have long ADORED my hairdresser and don't plan to switch because of one disaster, but I'm not thrilled with the new look I'm sporting for 2011. Ugh. Can anyone commiserate?

Bangs!

Yes. I have curly hair too, and no matter how much I tell hairdressers that my bangs will literally spring up an inch or two after they're dry, they don't seem to pay attention to me. Then I look like Hayley Mills in Parent Trap until they grow out. My solution is to flat iron my hair so there's no curl left. That helps. lol.

OMG.....

YES!!!!!! Same scenario...with the haircut before this last one!!!!!!! I love my hairdresser, as well and have been with her for years now...I guess everyone has a bad day at work?!? But does it have to be the day of our appointment? LOL I really was leary going back, but she redeemed herself and my hair is undercontrol. The good thing is that it grows out...I feel your pain, sister! Michelle

Naughty Hair

I feel your pain as well. I love the guy who does my hair but this last time it was good for about a week, but its not growing out well. Now that I bought new frames for my glasses I splurged on Prada for my Christmas present) the hair looks even worse. Sigh...no matter what you have on, the clothes, the perfume, your manners, if the hair doesn't behave the whole thing is ruined.

Thanks for the sympathy!

Well at least I'm no longer feeling like I'm suffering alone. :-) I'll continue to play with it - it's not the end of the world, right? That's the beauty of hair, it grows! I'll have to dig out my flat-iron and try smoothing out the bang frizz.

Marilyn

When I saw your picture on the email you sent me (forgive me I didn't then have time to write) I thought, "wow, she looks like her energy feels to me-- Kind, beautiful, caring, interesting." You are a beautiful woman. There is also a sensuality in your look. I love the gray, I love the haircut, I love the warmth and femininity that radiates from you. I always felt it in your words, and now I see it in your picture. Jas

Paying attention

Jean, I am paying attention. I think it is sometimes a matter of self-confidence, which I know I lack, despite your amazing comments. Thank you again.
