French Baking
I was going to buy some Bon Maman madeleines yesterday (at 100 cals each!) ... then thought 'why don't I just make some?'! I looked for a madeleine tray but no luck in our town (will have to go to a cookshop in Cambridge). Anyhow, this got me thinking about delicious French baking recipes and sharing them with each other. Does anyone have a tried and tested madeleine recipe?

Apron
I bought a really lovely apron yesterday for £4.99 (TK Maxx) It should have been about £20! I've attached some pics as I think it's really sweet (the fish go in the pocket!) and also included some pics of the madeleines my OH made this morning (pics are a bit fuzzy though :-)http://s1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa435/FWDGF/Baking/

Madeleines:
We went and bought a madeleine tray today (we're too full of carvery to make any though - so it'll be tomorrow instead!)I also found a really great baking book with what looks to be a good madeleine recipe in it. If it is any good (after a trial!), I'll post it.
We also bought new piping equipment for when I make some cream cakes ... delicious!
Marilyn, your recipe sounds yum! I'd like to give that a go too :-)

I don't have madeleines but
have one for Almond Friands.Ingredients:
180g Butter (melted)
225g Icing sugar (sifted)
5 level tablespoons plain flour
90g Ground Almonds
5 Egg whites
Few drops of almond extract
Sift the flour and icing sugar together and stir in the ground almonds. In a seperate bowl whisk the egg whites to a soft peak then fold into the flour and sugar. Add the melted butter. Mix well. Spoon into small individual muffin tins or cases and bake for approx 15/20 minutes at Gas4/180C. Dust with icing sugar when cool and enjoy!!
