Coffee

What brands of coffee does everyone prefer? I'm running low here at home and need to buy some more but I have yet to find the perfect coffee. I've tried everything from Gevalia to the organic, free trade stuff. I might try Illy next but I figured I'd ask here first. Thanks!

Coffee!!!

Living in Seattle comes as no secret that I LOVE coffee! I just bought one of those single serving coffee machine so you have to purchase the pods. But the brand is outstanding! If they sold Senseo coffee in bags I would highly recommend it!

Williams Sonoma

Williams-Sonoma had a coffee, espresso, and cappucino class last Sunday. If y'all haven't tried their technique class they are awesome though bring your cash! My husband, whom I believe is a true coffee aficienado, loved the Nepresso espresso machine and the coffee. I am not a coffee drinker so I couldn't tell you. They also have this wonderful pumpkin syrup so you can make your own Starbuck's pumpkin lattes at home. The brand of coffee, other than the Nepresso, that WS uses is Illy.

Nespresso

I'm glad that your husband discovered Nespresso. We have an old manual one that we bought at WS about 10 years ago. On our trips to Paris, we always stop at the Nespresso boutique to buy the pods (Though they are easily ordered online). We bought some of the pumpkin syrup to make the lattes. I will make a special treat this weekend. We have an outdoor lifestyle center (aka mall) about two miles from our house and I enjoy browsing in the WS. We live in exurbia and had to wait "forever" to get the "mall" which also has a two-story bookstore - where I just bought Mireille's new book.

Tea Cozy photos

I posted photos of my tea cozy here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tupperchris You will see, the construction is very simple. The two pieces are double-sided and filled with quilt batting. I show it both on my teapot & my French press. I think with some minor adjustments, it could fit the press much better. I really love the idea of black & white check, black & white toile and the black ribbon...might have to get the sewing machine out!

FP Cozy

Tres chic! Did you make it yourself? Mine is like a large contoured oven glove that slips over the teapot. It does the job, but it's nowhere near as nice as yours :^). Lorraine

Bonjour, Christine

We have that in common. And I was so excited about your FP cozy that I got confused! I'm going to sew one up sometime this summer; this is a wonderful way to employ my gorgeous fabric remnants and tiny snippets of trims that I held on to, knowing they had a higher purpose in life, lol. Lorraine

I bouth some Illy coffee

I bouth some Illy coffee yesterday, based on the recommendations here. I'm having some right now and it is very good; smooth and rich with no bitterness. I also like a coffee by Cafe Sanora. It supposedly has higher antioxidant levels because of the low-heat roasting process. I don't know if that's true but it tastes very good. Nice to have another option, though.

Nespresso

I bought a Nespresso machine last year, and it really makes the usualy before-work morning rush easier (and minimalizes the dishes). You just have to order the capsules once in a while and voila!

Coffee

Mmmmm, not you're talking my language. I too really like Illy, two others I like are Larrys beans http://www.larrysbeans.com/ their Ethiopian is to die for, and Lavazza an Italian coffee when I mad espresso http://www.lavazza.com/corporate/it/. I also love using my french press as well. I have found an amazing and inexpensive espresso maker http://www.amazon.com/Bialetti-Express-3-Cup-Stovetop-Percolator/dp/B000... I indulge in a cappuccino at least 2 times a week. Aimee

Soymilk fans

For anyone who is a fan of soymilk Silk has a great French Vanilla coffee creamer and yesterday I made the best iced coffee. The creamer is just sweet enough so no added sugar needed. Made with ground espresso, it was so refreshing.

Silk's coffee creamer is good...

plus you dont need to add sugar because its sweet. I either use light cream or silks soy creamer. Also, if you are going to go with a supermarket generic coffee, Folgers is the best of them all. And their breakfast blend is good. I usually dont use a coffee that has been ground for more than two or three days. I think thats why some coffees are bad. they should sell them in smaller containers.

I love French pressed coffee

I live in Seattle where we are very particular about coffee. Of course, Starbucks is very popular, but there are so many better independent coffee shops and vendors serving a much better cup of coffee. Some even rival the espresso I had in Rome! I have been using a French press for years and I love French pressed coffee. Some of our better restaurants and coffee shops offer French press service. A small pot of French press with cream (half and half) and demerara sugar is a wonderful dessert! I make cafe au lait on the weekends and we love to linger over our weekend breakfast with good coffee.

The thing I've found re: using a French press...

is that the coffee isn't very hot. Any suggestions?

Insulated French Press

I got such a gadget for DH a couple years back. It's designed to look like a steel coffee pot on the outside, and coffee does stay hot longer than in our glass-bodied press. Think I got it at Williams-Sonoma. Lorraine
