I found this definition of fromage blanc for you. It might help you in your search.Fromage frais (also known as fromage blanc, maquée and similar to some kinds of quark) is a dairy product, originating from Belgium and the north of France. The name literally means "fresh cheese" (with fromage blanc meaning "white cheese"). Pure fromage frais is virtually fat free, but cream is frequently added to improve the flavor, which also increases the fat content, frequently to as high as 8 percent of total weight. Fromage frais can be served either as a dessert similar to yogurt, frequently with added fruit, or used in savory dishes. It is often served with honey in restaurants, as fromage blanc au miel.

Hi there,
I just use plain yogurt, you can use either the Greek one called Fage or a really good one that I love is Ronnybrook, they have a great plain yogurt. As for fromage blanc, I think the Vermont cheese company makes one, but from my memory it is 0% fat and not very yummy. hope it helps, Nettafrenchy

Budwig Cream....
It is delicious. But it's not enough for me with the new med.I am on for Diabetes.I tried today and started to crash.Rats.But perhaps if I add a little protein, such as an egg,it may work.Must be a way to sort this out.Any suggestions ? JeanJeanette

Hi Jean! Possibly add more of the nuts to help add protein. Also see if you can get a cereal with more protein in it for you or perhaps extra fiber.Marilyn

After this weekend
with my brother I will need to try the Budwig detox. I think I will easily be able to adapt my normal breakfast of fruit, allbran and creme fraiche. No problems with 3 breadless days, will have to concentrate on no wine as like a glass at dinner at night. Well done Bev. MarilynHeatherJean

Budwig Cream
Now that I'm back, I think this would be a great way to kick off my detox before recasting phase.Previously, as I was about to start my recasting, I let myself get sidetracked. I'll save you the details.
I'm back and ready to get back on track. I admit that I tried something in the interim and found it tedious to have to calculate every calorie eaten and every calorie burned. I much prefer measuring my portions with the amounts Mireille gives us as "Standard" for Chic French Women and trying to be more active with my daily activities like walking my dogs every morning and then practicing Kung Fu with my daughter.
I really want to immerse myself back into this program. This is truly a lifestyle change that I find to be enjoyable AND possible to follow without making myself crazy. I just have to get back on track from the temporary detour and start enjoying my life as I eat healthier and start losing weight again. ~Heather

Bonjour, Heather!
Welcome back home, and I love your new avatar! It sounds like you've got your daily movement built right in with your active little girl. I agree with Jean: diets - who needs 'em. I always have such fun, this time of year, rediscovering Mireille's (and my) favourite recipes for the fall season. LorraineGann

Welcome back!!
Detours only,no dead ends,as Mireille says.It is a lifestyle and NOTHING to do with diets.Phew.I have trouble with detoxing because of Diabetes and a med. that drops my Glucose level quickly. But I think Budwig Cream is doable, with a few modifications, mostly in the timing of my eating.
lad you are here again.I enjoy your postings.Be well.Jean
Is that sweetheart your little girl with you ?Both gorgeous.

Bonjour, Mesdames!
Sometimes, while on the Budwig Détox, I eat as much as 6 oz. of chicken breast or fish if I'm ultra-hungry or if I know it will be a very physically taxing afternoon. And remember that you can pretty much eat your fill of steamed vegetables (I sometimes have half a steamed cauliflower). I would just avoid starchy ones, like potatoes. Season fish or meat and veggies very simply, only salt, pepper, vinegar or lemon juice, snippets of fresh herbs, maybe a teeny-tiny drizzle of EVOO. Heavy sauces and dressings would defeat the purpose of this detox. You'll be surprised at how sensitive and alert your taste buds become after three days of this beautiful simplicity! Mireille always emphasizes doing what feels right to you, so Jean, I'm sure you could adjust portions and eat four times instead of three and be very successful. Bonne chance, LorraineBevmck

Finished the Budwig Detox!
I've just finished 3 days of the Budwig Detox. I must say it's the easiest detox I've ever done (and I've tried a few!). I had no illness related issues apart from a bit of constipation which is highly unusual for me, since most of the time I have to prevent it going the other way, if you know what I mean. The Budwig Cream was so good that I've decided to continue with it for breakfast.I noticed some interesting things, today. I feel full of energy, but I basically haven't a clue what to eat now - all the diet stuff I was eating just doesn't seem very appetizing, but neither do any of those naughty unhealthy treats I craved before either. For dinner, since I couldn't find much else and my son loves it, I had a plate of pasta with asparagus and peas to which I added olive oil. I gave myself a smaller portion than usual. Forced myself to eat it all (fear of hunger raising its ugly head again). Now I feel completely stuffed and uncomfortable - yet I ate much less than I would have eaten on my diet.
Well it's time to start re-evaluating how I was eating and working out where to go from here. Nearly finished the book - looks like I need to start at the beginning again!

Bonsoir, Bev!
You did it, well done! Sounds as though you're reaping all the benefits of this wonderful detox, physical as well as psychological. Glad to hear that you're feeling good and in control. Isn't Budwig Cream fantastic? It even makes a nice desert with fruit. I can't thank Mireille enough for introducing it. LorraineBevmck

Yes and thanks to you
Yes and thanks to you Lorraine for mentioning it. Funny, I've just had the Budwig cream with fruit for dessert! I seem to be addicted. I've been reading a lot about the good doctor on the net. Fascinating stuff. I've altered the ingredients to fit what she says about omega 3 and get a bit closer to her original recipe, so I've started using flax oil and ground linseeds.Viva la Diva

Life is full of beginnings.
Congratulations on your detox. Sounds like you really began listening to yourself. Clever thinking with dinner this evening. It was a great way to stay committed to your inner 'French' girl! Just a suggestion, but if you can eat it, yogurt really help me when I am hungry between meals. If you do need a snack it is delicious, and think for a moment about what you may have needed a little more of at your meal. As for what to eat, the part I like the most is using what's on hand or in season. Check out the delightful recipes Mireille provides either on line or in the book. They are so delicious and really simple. Thanks for sharing your journey, it's inspiring.Bevmck

Bonjour, Lila!
Here is the information Mireille gave for the Budwig détox. I like it a lot! It makes me feel great. Bonne chance with the detox, Lila! Lorraine "My three-day detox using Budwig Cream is great way to give yourself a nice mid-summer break. You can even extend it to a full week for fabulous results without feeling deprived as you marvel at the changes in your skin and hair. This was part of l'été program in my family, as a recent visit from a cousin reminded me. Here are the guidelines: 1. For three mornings in a row, have my family favorite, Budwig Cream, and coffee or tea for breakfast. 2. For lunch and dinner, consume steamed veggies, plus fish or chicken (the white meat) for your protein. 3. Cut out bread and wine for all 3 days of your detox. 4. Voila. That's the Budwig Cream variation of detoxing. You won't starve, and at the end of your detox, you should feel renewed and bien dans ta peau once again. Budwig Cream Ingredients: 4 tablespoons yogurt (or fromage blanc,) 1 teaspoon sunflower oil, 1 teaspoon honey, Juice of 1/2 a lemon (Meyer preferably), 2 teaspoons of cereal (with zero sugar like shredded whole wheat), 2 teaspoons of walnuts . Yield: 1 serving Put the yogurt in a bowl and add the oil. Mix well. Add the honey and mix well. Add the lemon juice and mix well. (It is important to add each ingredient and mix well to obtain a homogenous preparation. Put the cereal and the walnuts in a coffee grinder and grind till almost powdery. Add to the yogurt mixture and mix well. Serve at once. N.B. You can also use sesame oil or flaxseed oil. For cereal, your choice can be buckwheat, barley, or any boxed cereal as long as it is natural i.e. no sugar added. The walnuts can be replaced with hazelnuts, almonds, cashews or pine nuts. You can also add half of a ripe banana mashed with a fork and add it after step one. And you can garnish your dish with any seasonal fruit. Make your own version."Lila

To Lorraine re: Budwig Detox
You mention tea or coffee with breakfast. Can I assume that would black? I really don't like black coffee, but I'm sure I could stand for a few days! Regards BevSt.TropezChic

Café noir
Bev, I think Mireille does mean black coffee, since the detox excludes sugar. So are you going ahead with it? I'm sure you'll do fine if you just listen to your body, and of course, stop if you begin to feel unwell. Bonne chance, LorraineBevmck

I started this morning - it's a good breakfast. Last night, though, I found myself drinking an extra glass of wine and eating an extra slice of bread. Very silly. It's what I used to do on the diet too. If I had an enforced break for a day, I would make sure I ate anything and everything that I had been denying myself! Regards BevVintage1944

Hi Jean Today was fine, but
Hi JeanToday was fine, but tomorrow could be tricky as my sister has organized an impromptu picnic on the beach. I'm assuming it's OK to have salad, so I'll try to cook some chicken and make a salad.
I was surprised how easy it was today, but I did have an apple before I remembered I was on the detox, so I'm hoping fruit is OK during the day and not just at breakfast!
