Bon jour Ladies!
I am not sure if any of you remember me. I used to post quite frequently but then life got out of control as did my weight and appearance. I would like to say I can blame it on work (it has been VERY stressful lately) but really I can only blame myself.
I am now starting all over again and need support. I have started doing yoga to help with the stress so I am hoping that will help. I just feel blah. My clothes do not look good, my hair looks horrible! (I cut it off and am regretting that every day). So I'm just bascially as "non-French" as a woman can get.
Hugs!
Patty
I've been gone too Patty, have missed all the regular posters and am happy to see many new members too. I'm so sorry your ex was such a bitter disappointment... please note how hard I've worked to clean up my language, because I have far choicer words than "disappointment" to describe him! I've started a new job and sort of lost track of myself, but have always meant to come back and start posting again. One day slips into the next and suddenly months have flown by! Yoga is always the best place to start; hair will grow; be kind to yourself. Hello, everyone!

Hi Patty
Sorry I missed your first post! I'm glad you're back too! I'm sorry to hear that you've had a hard time lately. I can relate with the control thing - when I feel like my life is out of control, my eating habits seem to get a little out of control too. Take care and remember to not be too hard on yourself :)

Welcome Home!
So glad you are back. I have not been posting as much either but try to at least read for a quick check in weekly. I am so sorry for your troubles, and love that you came back. Remember a French woman may have a detour, but always finds her way back. (loosely translated). Believe it or not I too cut my hair...3 feet off in September, than another foot in April. I walked around in a hood for three weeks, until my son purchased a hat for me for Mother's Day! I miss it too, but now I am having trouble growing it back in. The transition phase. I was really needing a change the first time, then the second time was a stressful day. Bad move. But at least hair grows in. I am focusing on the fact that it is new hair, new energy. Also, earrings and lipstick, help a ton! Check in more often, I want to know how you are doing. I am lately identifying new offenders and offending behavior. We are in a constant state of evolution with this process! Be Well...keep on keeping on!

Merci!!!!
Ladies,
I cannot thank you for all of the encouragement and kind words. I am back with a vengance! I purchased a new scale this weekend and it weighed me 7 pounds heavier than my old one. However I am NOT going to let that bring me down. I am back on track and so happy today!
I bought an new bathroom set (shower curtain, toothbrush holder and glass jar holder) all with a very pretty fluer-de-lis pattern. It's so gorgeous and totally pulled my French themed bath together.
I am patiently letting my hair grow and have a cleansing weekend where I donated 2 full bags of clothes and home items to a homeless shelter.
Things are getting better and I will be honest I missed each and every one of you. I will not leave this board ever again!!
Hugs to all!!!

Way to go, Patty. You will turn the corner. Use your eyes and zippers more than the scales. We are here to join you in your voyage in rediscovering yourself. We all slip off the track sometimes but together we will get back. Take care. xxx

Hello Patty.
First and
Hello Patty.
First and foremost, let me introduce myself as we have never met on here before. My name is Bex and I'm american but live in the uk. I only started coming on here about a month ago so I'm still kinda new. I havent been on here in about 2 weeks simply b/c I was on holiday w/my scout leader husband, and a group of scouts.(yes, not my ideal holiday but at least they were visitors from home). Let me say you have support from me and I know you have very strong support from all the lovely ladies on here. Support groups can help you more than you realize and when everyone rallies behind you, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Welcome back Patty!
You'll be back to full 'Frenchness' before long! You've had a rough time but you've done it once - so you can do it again! Reach for the moon Patty and if you don't quite make it ... you'll fall amongst the stars :-) you won't be alone - you'll be another shinning star in a constellation already here. All the best, Ava.

Sounds like a rough time, Patty!
I am sorry to hear about the stress and your engagement. I am glad you found out about the latter before the wedding, though.
I've just started an elimination diet, to be followed by a nutrition cleanse, so as to figure out my food sensitivities and reset the flora in my abdomen. I'm using Dr. Junger's book called Clean. So far, so good. It helps with low energy, stress, the blahs, all of that. He thinks that we have poor digestive health in this culture & that it can be rebuilt. I just want to mention this in case you might be interested in it.
Congrats on not giving up on yourself & getting back into yoga!!

I would be up for encouraging each other. I too have let myself go. I went to try on new clothes as the summer sales have started here and was horrified to discover I have gone up 2 sizes. The last time I was this large I was pregnant! I feel like a house.....

I am very sorry to hear of your troubles, but don't get too down on yourself. It happens to everyone myself included. All you can do is take it one day at a time. And write down at least 10 things you love about yourself DAILY! Good luck and welcome back!

Angela,
Thank you for the daily suggestion. I like that idea. I think a lot of my trouble began when I found out that the man I was engaged to and madly in love with had 2 younger girlfriends on the side. Needless to say we broke it off and my self-esteem took a very nasty blow.

Firstly: welcome back, you have been missed.
Secondly: the guy is the one who should be feeling blah. He treated you badly and doesn't realise what he has lost.
Thirdly: look in the mirror and see your beautiful self. Your hair will grow, take baby steps to get back on track, we are here for you. Take Angela's advice and before long you will have your self esteem back as well.
Fourthly: stay here, no going away again.
Take care.xxx

Hi,
I just read this and it gave me inspiration. As I posted earlier, I have not budged one pound and have been doing this for 10 days. I need to give it a longer period of time?? But...I am not giving up. I need to hide the scale though - it is my obssession!!
French women eschew extreme temperatures in what they consume, and enjoy fruits and vegetables bursting with flavor at room temperature, at which they prefer their water, too.
