And the flower of the week is.....
6 white roses and 6 red roses......a little classic. Since they are not scented, I placed them in a short vase on the table so as to be attractive and make me want to sit there for my meals. Hmmm.....

Lilac
Enjoy your lilacs. My are now about finished. I have white lilac and the scent is delicious. The peonies and poppies are just coming out but the wind has returned and is giving them a bit of a battering sadly.snorklee

Finally... everything is blooming!
Marilyn, that's funny that we're on different blooming cycles. My climate follows behind yours. :) My apple tree is in full beautiful bloom now, with the crab apple almost there. My yard is a riot of lavendar, white, fuschia, and bright red. But like you say, then the wind, and rain comes and batters them about. So usually, there are only a few gorgeous days of full bloom before the wind takes the fragile flowers and blows them into the neighbor's yard. We have to live in the moment to catch the beauty. Enjoy your beautiful garden!Vintage1944

Hi Deb and Marilyn
Your description of your gardens is delightful .And I am getting a garden. My Landlord planted a few different flowering plants, tulips, daffodils and possibly Gladiolas. We are going to get hostas for a shady area in the back garden and herbs.I want poppies,as well.Enjoy your gardens. And you are so right gardens are a lesson of living in the moment.Wind and rain (which seem never ending here)make it all fleeting.OXOMarilyn

Hi Deb
Our apple and cherry blossom has been swept away. This weekend has finished the lilac and flattened the early peonies but hopefully a little sun will revive the latter. As you say we must enjoy the beauty while it lasts albeit fleetingly with some of the more delicate blooms. The tulips have gone and I am waiting for the roses and the lavender. No buds as yet on the hydrangeas but it is too early for them. It will be interesting to see if the 'blue food' has worked. Have fun with your garden.meneia

Gardenias
Although I didn't get very many this year - I think because it went from being nice to really hot, really quick. But I love them. I have to say that they are the ONLY thing I like about spring here in Florida because it means the end of nice weather and my allergies kick in but the gardenias at least offer a bright spot to all of that :)Ava

the daffodil!.
These flowers remind me of Wordsworth's poem "I wandered lonely as a cloud. when all at once I saw a crowd, a host of dancing daffodils...dancing in the breeze."Vintage1944

More tulips
They really are my favourite spring flower. I will be really happy when those in my garden bloom later. I noticed today that my daffodils are just beginning to show a little yellow in the buds. Not long before they are in bloom.Today I bought some beautiful pink tulips in Tesco, 50% extra for the same price.

Tulip Festival
I'm green with envy. You must take some photos and send me them on email. We have some sun today but it is still very cold, a cold wind from the East is a permanent problem here. Be careful in the snow.Marilyn

Tired from spending far too much time sitting in the car though. I can't wait for my excercise classes next week, in fact if the weather is good this weekend the garden may get some long needed tlc.Bonne chance with the move over the next few days. When do you go on your trip south?

Welcome back!
Glad you came and went safely. Also Jean....hope you will take plenty of walking breaks on the trip. Most hotels have a treadmill these days so I hope you can continue with your walking. I hope you both had a wonderful day. Oh yes......and I bought new flowers today. Yellow roses with a pink tip and white roses with a red tip. The latter hs not yet opened up fully so I think they will last a while. I still have the red and the white roses from Saturday. Now I have roses in the bedroom, in the bathroom, in the living room and in a vase on my bistro type table. I just love them! :)Vintage1944
